Vet & Health

Your puppy comes home fully vetted, but ongoing care is key. Here's what to know about keeping your Little Zoomer healthy.

Schedule a Wellness Visit

Book a vet appointment within the first week of bringing your puppy home. Bring all vet records we provide so your vet can establish a baseline.

Heartworm & Flea Prevention

Florida's warm climate means year-round prevention is essential. Ask your vet about monthly heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives.

Vaccination Schedule

Your puppy's vaccination records will be included at pickup. Your vet will advise on any remaining boosters and annual schedule going forward.

Spay & Neuter

All our puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. If for any reason yours is not yet done, we require it be completed by 6 months of age.

Training

Our puppies arrive crate-trained and socialized — a great head start! Consistent positive reinforcement will set them up for life.

Puppy Kindergarten

Enroll in a puppy kindergarten class as soon as your pup is fully vaccinated. It's the best investment you can make for socialization and basic obedience.

Positive Reinforcement

Reward good behavior immediately with treats, praise, or play. Never use punishment-based methods — they damage trust and create anxiety.

Consistency is Key

Everyone in the household should use the same commands and rules. Mixed signals confuse puppies and slow down training progress.

Potty Training Tips

Take your puppy outside every 1–2 hours, after meals, after naps, and after play. Praise and reward immediately when they go outside.

Nutrition

Good nutrition is the foundation of a healthy, happy dog. We'll send you home with information on what your puppy has been eating.

Stick With What They Know

Keep your puppy on the same food for at least two weeks after adoption. Sudden diet changes cause digestive upset.

Transitioning Foods

If switching foods, do it gradually over 7–10 days — mix increasing amounts of the new food with decreasing amounts of the old.

Feeding Schedule

Puppies under 6 months should eat 3 times per day. After 6 months, twice daily is standard. Always measure portions per the bag's guidelines.

Foods to Avoid

Never feed your dog onions, garlic, grapes, raisins, chocolate, macadamia nuts, xylitol (in sugar-free products), or cooked bones.

Local Services

We're based in North Central Florida. Here are some types of local services worth finding in your area.

Veterinarians

Look for a vet who sees dogs regularly and offers wellness plans. Ask neighbors or your local Facebook group for recommendations.

Groomers

Start grooming visits early so your puppy gets comfortable with the process. Look for groomers experienced with puppies.

Trainers

Seek out certified positive-reinforcement trainers (CPDT-KA credential). Group classes are great for socialization too.

Boarding & Daycare

When you travel, choose a boarding facility that requires up-to-date vaccinations and offers supervised play time.
